The Camelford Way

The Camelford Way

Forth Reskammheyl

An eight mile footpath link from the end of the Camel Trail through St. Breward to Camelford

Conceived by Camelford 2000, the Camelford Way has come into being through the co-operation of the Countryside and Access sections of Cornwall County Council, St. Breward Parish Council and Camelford Town Council.

The River Camel rises on Bodmin Moor and travels 28 miles to the Atlantic Ocean at Padstow. For 17 of those miles, from the sea to the edge of the moor, the Camel Trail runs alongside the river on the bed of the old railway. At Pooley's Bridge the Camel Trail ends, but the walker can now continue another 8 miles using public footpaths to follow the Camelford Way.

The opening of the Camelford way brings us another step closer to the creation of a 45 mile circular long distance route taking in river valley, moorland and coastline to link the towns of Camelford, Padstow, Wadebridge and Bodmin.
