History of a town

The Heritage Centre holds a small collection of artefacts of which only some can be displayed at any one time. Our most important collection is of items to do with the tanning industry that was important in Grampound from at least as far back as the medieval period until the beginning of this century. We have a number of hand tools and some items produced in the Manor Tannery. In addition to the tannery items we hold a collection of china depicting local scenes and some regalia and others pieces related to the Oddfellows Friendly Society that was once very active in our village.

The centre also has a listening post for oral histories, a digital photo-archive, wall banners showing the history of the area and a short film about the locality.
